The Old Leake Medical Centre Newsletter provides information on what’s happening here at the surgery.

‘Out of Hours’ Repeat Ordering System.

Did you know that you can now order your repeat medication when we are closed?

If you would like to use this system, please bring photographic ID into the surgery with your choice of a ‘six digit PIN number.

When this has been done and we

have activated the PIN, you

will be able to dial the surgery on

01205 870 666 and order your

medication when we are closed.

(This is in addition to the ‘on-line’ service.)

Extension of Delivery Service.

The delivery service has been extended to include spouses of patients who are currently eligible.

If you would like to sign up for the service, please ask at reception for an application form.

Evening Educational Events.

The next three event have been planned and are detailed on the previous page.

Friends and Family Cards.

You may have noticed ‘Friends and Family’ cards at reception and in your prescription bags. This is a quick and easy way to leave feedback on the practice, so if you haven’t yet completed one, please do so.

Virtual PPG.

This is an e-mail community of patients allowing you to give your views and be a part of the decisions we make, even if you don’t have a lot of free time.

Please ask at reception.

Of the cards received so far the major comments have been:

Obviously there is nothing that can be done about car parking, however the other two comments can be explained thus:

5 days notice for repeats.

The practice dispenses approx.

750 items per day.  When you order your repeats, your request joins the bottom of the queue, which is then worked through in date order. There are 4 dispensers covering the 11 hours the surgery is open daily and your request moves steadily up the list, which takes 4 - 5 days.  In addition the dispensing team have to prioritise prescriptions that come through from each doctors’s surgery.

Why the wait?

Dr Sinha and Dr Bull’s appointments are always in demand.  This is because Dr Sinha has a specialist interest in Dermatology and patients want to see him with their skin problems.

Dr Bull has reduced his working week to just two days.

All doctors are equally well qualified.

It is your interest to get to know another doctor!

We have removed the magazines from the waiting room, in agreement with the PPG, to improve the cleanliness of the practice.

This also reduces the risk of any cross-infection between patients.

We ask that you bring your own reading material in future.
